Proletarier aller Länder, vereinigt euch!

New Delhi (PTI): Services in the banking, insurance, aviation, railways and various other government sector are likely to be affected tomorrow due to the strike called by trade unions demanding removal of anomalies in the pay commission among other things.
The strike, called by eight trade unions and 40 employees' federations, is also likely to affect defence production, pharma, steel manufacturing and other sectors.
With the Airport Authority Employees' Union (AAEU) deciding to join the strike, air-travellers may have to face problems. Services of trains might also be hit in view of farmers in several states planning to organise blockades.
In the three left-ruled states of West Bengal, Tripura and Kerala, the strike is likely to be successful as the ruling parties have called for a day-long bandh to express solidarity with the striking unions.
"In West Bengal there will be road and rail blockades. All air services will be stalled as the federation of airport employees have also joined the call for the general strike," said CITU president M K Pandhe.
The strike, which is also to protest against the government's economic and labour policies, has been supported by lower level government employees' federations as they are aggrieved over the raise alloted to them in the 6th pay commission report.
The six-point charter of demands include curbing inflation, passage of a comprehensive bill to provide social security to unorganised sector workers, loan-waiver scheme for farmers borrowing money from private money lenders and proper implementation of labour laws.
